Full Description
Narbonne began as a Roman port, and the city still shows it: a Roman road runs under the main square, and the old town keeps the shape of its ancient streets. On this two-hour private walk we explore the highlights of central Narbonne with families, moving at a pace that works for children from five years old and for the adults who come with them.
Children are part of the tour, not spectators. In the cathedral cloister they follow a small observation game among the carved details, and our guide, who is used to working with families, keeps the stories short, concrete, and easy to follow. Strollers are welcome, and we plan the route so that the walking stays comfortable.
The route follows the city from its Roman origins to its medieval peak: the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville and the Via Domitia, the underground galleries of the Roman Horreum, the Archbishops' Palace, the Gothic cathedral with its cloister, the Pont des Marchands, and the Canal de la Robine. We finish among the market stalls of Les Halles de Narbonne, where guests can stay on for an optional tasting of local specialties, and close the path at the she-wolf and the forum, the last piece of the Roman story on our route.
This is a private experience, arranged only for the group that books it. Entrance tickets to the sites on the route are included, and so is hotel pickup for guests staying in the city center; pickup from the train station, the airport, or places outside the center can be arranged on request at an additional cost. The meeting point is confirmed after booking, and the tour is available in English, Italian, Spanish, French, and German, with one rate for adults and children. Food and drinks are not included.
